'What if...' #2

Here's the second installation of 'What if...'! I'm currently inclined to turn this into a periodical feature, seeing the huge feedback I got with the first one. Today I bring to your attention something that is not exactly a 'What if', since potential proof and lamp-shading of this is shown time and again in the canon series. This theory is shared among a few of my colleague on our forums and I particularly like the thought of it being true because of the plot-lines it could spawn. Maybe they will be used in the future by the author, I don't know. I've learned months ago that he's a master at trolling us, in a good way.

So, the 'What if' I bring to your attention today is, again for the Naruto series...

What an hectic week-end this is going to be. My grandpa's 85th birthday (the guy still has in it him to take apart and rebuild a courtyard which arrangement he doesn't like), big party with my friends on Sunday, preparing to move to Rome. Yeah, the new trimester is coming, and Meinos Kaen goes where University is, in this case in Rome. Going to be fun! Itty bit scared but at the same time really excited! But I'm getting sidetracked here. I want to talk about something important, today. Something which, taking a page out of Peter Griffin's book, really Grinds my Gears.

The matter at hand being Twitter's announcement of wanting to bend over and make itself open to censorship on a country-by-country basis.

Today I bring you a little discussion about Comics or better, a branch of series of the DC Comics, which all started with Detective Comics #27 in 1939. The die hard fans recognize it as the issue where the world's most famous masked detective and the superhero who defined 'badass normal' was first introduced: Bruce Wayne AKA the Batman.

Although, talking about Batman is like talking about sweets: they've been around for so long and they made so many of them that it's impossible to talk about them all in a limited space and do the world of sweets justice. So, spurned by a recent rumor, I've decided to have a little analysis of the Batman in relationship to his closest members of the 'Batfamily': the Robins.

After setting up and connecting between each other my Google+, Facebook and Twitter accounts (just search Meinos Kaen), today I bring you a new Fanfiction update that has really been a long time coming. A first draft, then trying a rewrite, then the second chapter stuck in limbo for months... It's been a very long while, but here's the second chapter of Pactio Quindecim, my Negima/Naruto X-Over! I really needed to continue this story, if only for the mean cliffhanger of Naruto passing out in the hot spring and Kaede discussing with the other girls who should administer CPR...

Yeah. I think this story is headed on worse level of perverseness than Sexplosion. How's that possible, you ask?

Today I bring you a much obliged second installation of 'Naruto X-Over Bloopers', with a double feature, meaning I bring you two X-Over ideas for the price of one! Well, not exactly, to tell the truth. To clarify, the first one only is a bona-fide X-Over, while the second one is a case of 'What if', verging on the really comical because of the implications of the idea, but let's go in order.

So, what do we want to talk about today? Apart from the fact that I changed the page's song to the tune of the fantastic remix of 'Starlight Zone' from the first Sonic the Hedgehog game, remixed in a gnarly jazz by the Tanuki Suit Riot, of course. Well, I thought I could share some thoughts about the series that pretty much brought me to writing Fanfiction, Naruto. But again, what kind of Meinos Kaen would I be if it was just a review of a series known pretty much world-wide? So, how could I talk about it and make it interesting, new? Well, I thought of what starts a Fanfiction in the first place. THE question, you know.

What if.
 

That's where every Fanfiction, stories in general, start from. A person asks himself a question, gives himself an answer and elaborates from there. So, I decided, if I want to talk about a series, I'd better talk about it in writing terms, in Fanfiction terms.

The first What If I bring to your attention is the most recent one I chanced upon, all starting from a Rule 63 (alias, genderbended: a male turned into a female or viceversa) picture posted on the forums I work my trade. The series is Naruto, and the question is:

From the title you've probably already guessed that I want to talk about is the SOPA, alias the Stop Online Piracy Act that is making the net talk because of its controversial implications. I thought I could talk briefly about it, show my opinion on this and maybe share some details for those who still haven't read fully about it.

To start with, the SOPA is a bill presented at the US House of Representative last October.

Well, this post comes as a surprise to me, I must say. I didn't plan it but I just couldn't not share my thoughts on this piece of information that came to me as I was browsing the net. Something so mind-boggling that... Well, let's go with order. First thing, what do you know about Obsidian Entertainment?

Mixed... Feelings.

To those people who are fans of Star Wars games, the company will be famous for having developed Knights of the Old Republic II (By the way, I owe Bioware an apology for my disinformation in an earlier post). To fans of Western RPGs in general, they also developed Neverwinter Nights II, Alpha Protocol, Fallout: New Vegas and Dungeon Siege III. This latest game is perhaps the closest related to this latest juicy bit of news, since it will be its engine used in this latest project they decided to undertake. What project?

Obsidian is currently in the process of developing a South Park RPG.

Well, today, what do I want to talk about? I guess I want to talk about games. Videogames. What are videogames? Well, I once fathered a definition that caused my own father to look at me like I had grown a second head. You'll have to excuse him since he's never played a videogame in his whole life. He couldn't understand why I liked such stupid things so much and I told him: 'Dad, the games you know about are the ones that make the news for their controversy, like GTA. The games I like are like... Books. They're like books where to turn the page you have to do something.'

There are videogames that correspond to this definition more than the others, and then there's a genre that fits it like a latex glove fits a hand.
